Frequently Asked Questions - FAQ

When is the best time to see the dolphins?

The dolphins reside just along the coast of Wildwood and Cape May so we can see them all day.

Do I need to print out my boarding pass?

You do not need to print out your boarding pass as we have all of your information sent to us when you buy your tickets online.

What makes the Thunder Cat Dolphin Watch Speedboat so unique?

The Thunder Cat is a one of a kind dolphin tour. We are different from our competitors as we create a very up close and personal experience with our crew and the dolphins. As opposed to our competitors that hold up to 350+ passengers, our tours are more intimate, holding 49. Our speedboat creates waves that allow the dolphins to jump and play along only yards behind our boat. It does not take us 20 minutes to get to the ocean; our location is KEY being moments from the Atlantic Ocean and maximizing time spent with the dolphins.

Where does the Thunder Cat Dolphin Watch Speedboat depart from?

We are located at:

  • Cape May Inlet Marina
  • 1001 Ocean Drive
  • Wildwood Crest, NJ 08260

Yes, there is plenty of unrestricted free parking.

Is there a bathroom aboard the Thunder Cat Speedboat?

Yes, but we sailor’s refer to it as the “head”. We strongly recommend that you use the land base facilities on the dock prior to boarding the boat. You will have access to clean bathroom facilities before departure.

Is there food and drinks available aboard the Thunder Cat Dolphin Watch Speedboat?

Yes, we offer ice cold refreshments and snacks. NO OUTSIDE FOOD OR DRINKS.

How long does the excursion last?

All excursions are 90 minutes with the exception of the 8 AM one hour special.

How many passengers can come along?

The Thunder Cat holds up to 49 passengers so seats are limited. BOOK ONLINE to guarantee seats.

Can we bring our own camera?

Yes of course.

Is there an age limit?

No, the Thunder Cat is safe and fun for all ages. It is a very comfortable trip as we cruise along the beaches of Wildwood and Cape May with plenty of large comfortable seating. There is easy access on and off the boat.

Will we get sea sick?

Not likely, however we are on the Atlantic Ocean. The Thunder Cat is a very large vessel and is in motion most time. The last thing we want is for anyone to get sick so if the weather is too rough we simply do not go. We stay very close to the beaches and in the summer months it is usually very calm.

Will we get wet?

On the Thunder Cat Speedboat there is a very slight chance of getting wet while being on the ocean, but highly unlikely as we do not intentionally get you wet.

Do we need a reservation?

Excursions do sell out, so to guarantee your spot(s) we recommend that you make reservations in advance. Book online or call ahead.

How early must we arrive?

Arrive 30 minutes prior to your trips scheduled departure time. (Example: for a 1:00pm excursion we ask that you arrive no later than 12:30pm).

What if we arrive late?

We run on a tight schedule and cannot return to the dock to pick up late passengers, be sure to allow plenty of time to check in. Don’t take a chance of being left behind, as we do not offer refunds if you miss the boat.

How should we prepare and what should we bring?

We suggest you wear comfortable clothing; even beach attire is fine during the summer season. Sweatshirt or light jacket may be a good idea as the ocean air can be a little cooler. High heels are not recommended; bring some sun screen, sunglasses, hat or visor. Keep in mind that you are NOT allowed to bring any alcoholic beverages on board.

Do you have a weather cancellation policy?

Passengers will have the option to rebook another trip or get a full refund if we cancel due to inclement weather.
